Dave Week UPDATE

Hey all!

Varsity - Dave will be here next week (December 2nd to the 6th). As of today, we are rehearsing Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday 3 to 7 and Saturday from 10 to 6. Tuesday and Thursday will be at Durham Elementary as usual. Plan on being at Tigard Wednesday. Friday, and Saturday until I hear from Twality or Fowler.

JV - You will also be learning show that week! Tuesday and Thursday from 5 to 9, you will be at Durham Elementary. Saturday, you will be at Tigard from 10 to 6.

Winter Guard Results

READ ALL PLEASE!

Well, auditions are over and you all did wonderfully. I have had conversation after conversation with members, staff, and Dave regarding how to make our winter guard(s) work this year. I have argued and defended both options for several weeks, and finally a decision has been made. I'm proud to announce that Tigard will be presenting TWO winter guards for the 2009 season.

As we discussed Sunday, I feel this is the best way for you to be successful as a performer. As one large group, many would drown in the background...staying behind props for over half the show, never spinning a weapon, never being in the spotlight, and only getting to be on the floor for major impacts, if even that. It's not fair for every member. I feel like you each deserve equal time in front of an audience.

You will all be together for 2 hours each rehearsal and travel and compete together at the same shows. Even though we have different productions, we all practice the same basics and take the same dance class. We're still one team.
So, here are the two guards. Congrats to you all and I'm really looking forward to working with both teams this winter.

First Winter Fundraiser

OK, we're off! Official auditions are Thursday, but I've been watching these past few days :) It's going to be an awesome year!

Our first fundraiser is a Rehearse-a-thon. You will get a packet Thursday so that you can go and get sponsors for our Dave Week rehearsals. You can have people pledge money per hour you will rehearse or donate a flat fee. This money goes completely to your fees, so you need to keep track carefully on your sheet. You can make quite a bit of money to help your fees if you take this seriously!!

I figured you could get pledges next week when many of you are visiting with family over Thanksgiving break. Ask grandmas, aunts, uncles, other family, teachers, friends, neighbors to sponsor you. Write down some ideas of who you can ask. I think this will be a great way to help with fees. Take it seriously!!

If you know you'll be able to pay your fees, consider donating your pledges to another member who cannot. If you're not sure who to donate to, I can help with that. I can't tell you who, but I can confidentially collect money for someone who is going to need it.

Saturday November 15th

It's coming!! Auditions are starting this weekend! I'm excited to get the new members started and you old members spinning harder stuff.
So fall cg, get your flags, weapons, and uniforms and bring them Saturday please. Time to clean up the past and move on to the future!
