Psst!

www.wgi.org
Go and look around.
Many from our local circuit are finally getting involved with Winter Guard International. According to my sources, Skyview and Evergreen are planning to go to World Champs next year. This is the future of guard programs. I would love to go watch next year...???

Evergreen Finals Performance

Video is to the right. I'm not sure why it comes up second :)
Watch this video many times. Watch yourself, yourself with the group, and the group as a whole. Here's a list of things to look for. It's a long list, but I want to bring your attention to these problems that Dylan and I have addressed MANY times already! It's time YOU applied them. What can you make better by Saturday when you perform in front of peers in your HOME SCHOOL? This is up to you and you alone on these parts. Dylan and I have already given you information on every point I make here.

In general:

1. SAILS everywhere. This is not unusual. And it needs to stop.
2. Where are you supposed to be looking? Watch each others' faces. Can you tell when they are not looking in the right place?
3. You are to stay in character all the way off the floor. No packing up before you are behind a prop. Watch how you start packing up flags before you are off the floor. Very distracting to the audience.

Now for specific parts of the show:

1. How do we sit and stand in the beginning with the blue flags entering? Do you look graceful or like an Old Woman?
2. The last part of the blue flag feature is not good. Figure out who is right. You know where the flag is supposed to be on 3, 6, and 9.
3. The 2 groups before the zipper, MESS. Yeah, that's all I got. MESS.
4. The 6's and the rotating block have been cleaned thoroughly. It got worse Saturday. Time to stop thinking during that part. It's important.
5. The angle toss is out Tuesday if it isn't being done correctly. We've worked on that as a group for several weeks now and it still isn't good. Watch yours. Is it an angle? Is it high enough? Did you throw it right? This is an open class skill. Is it worth it to you for us to keep it in?
6. Blue Flags during the saber entrance: This is NOT together. Even though it's new, it's easy and it's slow. No excuse. Where is your body supposed to be facing? This is part of why it is dirty.
7. Watch all of your faces during the saber part. You can see individuals flipping their heads from left to right watching each other. This is a Regional A problem. Wow.
8. The gold flag part from the S to the end is just a phasing mess all around. There is a 3 or so count difference from the girls on the left to the girls on the right. Some turn the WRONG direction when we run to the circle even after we talked about that Thursday. Also, watch your free hands under the gold flag toss.

All of these points have been addressed in the past week or two. We can't clean and make other parts better until you decide how to fix the parts Dylan and I thought we AlREADY FIXED!!! We are going to start removing people who can't make the fix. Like Dylan said Saturday, it's nothing personal but you are hurting the group as a whole. And we are running out of time.
Come Tuesday with a fire to make things better. We don't have the gym Thursday. You do the math.

Recap from Saturday

Hello Varsity!
Here's the link to the recap from Saturday. You have to scan down toward the end to find us, but do it. Look closely at how we rank with the others in our class. Do it now then come back to the blog and read on.

http://www.nwapa.us/events.php# then click "scores" under Westivew's posting then click "download recap" at the very top of the pop up page.

Did you notice how far down our movement score was from Glencoe? Over 3 points! In one caption! If we would have a dance section in our show, and we do it REALLY well, we could have been in finals! We were only out of finals by this one judge! But he's right, we don't have much variety in movement. But we will, oh yes...
This recap is really encouraging. We're moving on as a Scholastic A color guard (2 classes up from last year!) and I'm very excited about this recap. You should be too.

No video up yet. I will put it here as soon as I can.

Rehearsal Saturday! Times to me announced!
